Contemporary Christian music artist and pastor, Lincoln Brewster, was born July 30, 1971 in Fairbanks. He is also a nationally known session guitarist.
Musical Prodigy
Lincoln Brewster has had an ear for music since early childhood. At the age of one, his mother noticed he kept pretty good rhythm on a drum set given to him by his grand-father. His mother, a musician herself, began teaching Lincoln the mandolin at the age of five. He mastered the instrument quickly and began playing with his mother for Alaskan cruise ship tours.
By the time Lincoln was twelve years old, he had advanced to having his own band, Lincoln and the Missing Links. Now, his mother worked for him, playing bass and singing vocals. As a teenager, Lincoln moved with his family from Alaska to Modesto, California, and became very involved in his high school music program. He played guitar and drums in the high school jazz band and the snare drum in the marching band. By the time he was nineteen years old, he was already being offered recording contracts in Los Angeles.
Salvation Experience
It was around this time, during his late teens, that Lincoln began feeling an emptiness in his life. He began attending church with his high school sweetheart, Laura. It was here that he asked the Lord into his heart and accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of his life.
Touring With Steve Perry
One of Lincoln Brewster's first gigs was lead guitarist for the Pop music artist Steve Perry, (previously from Journey), as he began work on his second solo album, For The Love Of Strange Medicine. After the album was released and the tour was finished, Lincoln and now his wife, Laura moved back to Modesto, California. They attended Calvary Temple Church where Lincoln worked as the sound technician. After the first year, the senior paster offered Lincoln the position as associate music director and youth worship leader. This was the start of something new.
Minister and Christian Music Artist
In 1997, Lincoln and Laura left Modesto and moved to Nashville to serve as youth pastors and eventually as full-time music ministers for a Nashville church. While there, he met with executives from Integrity. The executives listened to one of Lincoln's demo tapes and were impressed that not only did he play the guitar but also every other instrument on the demo. His talent was unlimited with his vocal and instrumental abilities.
Four years, the Lincoln and Laura moved back to California. This time to Granite Bay, where he was offered the position of worship pastor at Bayside Church. He also signed with Integrity Music and has recorded six full length albums. He is best known for his worship anthems, "Today is the Day,""Everlasting God," "God You Reign", "Salvation is Here", and "The Power of Your Name."
Living the Real Life
This seventh alum project, Real Life, was released September 2010. It includes ten brand new songs written and arranged by Lincoln. All the songs focus on the grace of God, making peace with one's past and embracing whatever God has planned in the future. The national Christian music radio station KLOVE is offering a free music download from iTunes of the first single on this album, Reaching For You from iTunes until the end of January.
Lincoln Brewster and his wife Laura, along with their two sons still live in California where he is still the full time music minister of Bayside Church. For a full list of Lincoln's concert dates throughout the country, check out the tour page on the Lincoln Brewster website.
