As a studio recording artist, Jason Gray is still making his mark on the Christian music circuit. Before he signed with Centricity Music in 2006, Jason had been traveling around as an Indie artist for 7 years.
Jason Gray
Jason is a 39 year old Christian music singer / songwriter originally from and still calls Minnesota home. He is married and he and his wife, Taya, live in southern Minnesota with their three children.
His real name is actually Jason Gay, but he added the letter r to make " Gay," " Gray," to bypass certain online content filters that would always block the word, " Gay." It would be difficult to promote his career and his music online using his birth name.
Back in 1993, Jason first became involved in Christian ministry as a youth minister before jumping into a full time christian music career in 1999. He traveled as a Indie artist, promoting his own music around the country for the next 7 years before signing his first studio contract in 2006 under the Centricity recording label.
As an Indie artist, Jason Gray recorded four independent albums on his own. Then, after signing on with Centricity, he released, " All The Lovely Losers," in 2007, " Acoustic Storytime," in 2008 and, "Everything Sad Is Coming Untrue," in 2009.
Jason has a unique, eclectic style of music. He's not your usual Contemporary Christian music artist He has had a few obstacles to overcome including a speech impediment of stuttering and he took a risk going from Indie artist to recording contract artist. Would his relational lyrics and unique style bridge to a broader audience?
A Way To See In The Dark
Jason will release his fourth studio recorded project, " A Way To See in The Dark, on September 13, 2011. As with any new and upcoming Christian artist, as their discography grows, so does their fan following. So, the success of A Way to See in the Dark still remains to be seen.
However, Jason is very busy and involved as an activist for many projects and causes. He has been involved with charities that help the orphans with AIDS in Africa and more recently has participated in the World Vision sponsored tour, the Make A Difference Tour 2010, which also included: Third Day, tobyMac and Michael W. Smith.
Called To Love Tour
Jason has had the privilege of touring with many Contemporary Christian artists throughout the last 5 years, including: Jeremy Camp, Sanctus Real, Matthew West, Shawn McDonald, Downhere, Big Daddy Weave, The Afters and Mark Schultz. Coming up in October of this year, Jason will be part of the, " Called to Love Tour," with Downhere and Aaron Shust. For a complete list of tour dates and venues, check out the Jason Gray website.
